This is an unusual vintage long wool vest. It looks to me to be a uniform of some sort, perhaps something that a doorman would have worn but could be worn by either gender. This long wool vest is made of tightly woven black wool with red trim. There is a faux pocket flap at either side. The upper opening and the pockets are decorated with numerous brass stud-like buttons. The vest closes at the waist with a hook and eye and there is a gold chain loop hanging from the hook, perhaps used to hang keys from? The vest is fully lined in red fabric.
Label: Removed, only a remnant remains.
Fabric: Like a worsted wool, fairly heavy so would provide some warmth
Sizing: There is no size label on this long wool vest, and although it should fit a men’s small size or a women’s medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the thickness of wool fabric into account:
Shoulders: 16 1/2” across the top
Chest: 38” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 33” around
Hips: 38” around
Overall length: 35”, measured flat at the back from the neck seam
Condition: This long wool vest is in very clean condition with no wear, tear, staining or odour.
This is an interesting long wool vest - rather unique and quite striking with the brass buttons!
