This is a very nice quality vintage Christian Dior mink jacket made in a medium brown colour called “demi-buff”.  This vintage Christian Dior mink jacket is made in a simple style with rounded shoulders, Peter Pan collar and straight cut.  There is a satin lined pocket built into either side and the interior is lined in a similar silk satin fabric.  As mentioned, it has a Peter Pan collar that can be worn either with an open neckline or closed up as it has a hook and loop at the neckline (see photos for different poses).  The jacket closes with two hooks and eyes.  I believe that the pelts are female mink and beautifully matched - female mink is lighter in weight than male mink, softer and more supple than male mink. Additionally, female pelts have a high lustre, are very silky and soft and are more adaptable to tailoring and draping.  The original owner’s embroidered initials are embroidered into the lining.

Label: Christian Dior Original Exclusively Designed For And Made By Holt Renfrew & Co., Limited.  Holt Renfrew was and is a high-end boutique type department store that sells only designer and luxury fashion and goods. Holt Renfrew had a close working relationship with Dior and with other Paris fashion houses as after the war the French fashion houses had to turn to export markets due to the decimation of their traditional European market.  Holt Renfrew was a major importer of French fashion during that time and continues to be so now.  Holt Renfrew was originally a furrier, so has a long history of manufacturing quality fur.

Sizing: No size is indicated, but this vintage Christian Dior mink jacket should fit a medium size - please rely on the following exterior measurements for fit, taking the thickness of the fur into account:

Shoulders: 15 1/2” across shoulder/sleeve seams

Sleeves: 22 1/2” from the shoulder seam

Sleeve inseam:  14 1/2”

Bust:  44” around, taken under the arms

Waist:  47” around

Overall length:  22”, measured flat

Condition:  The fur is in excellent condition.  This lady put this vintage Christian Dior mink jacket into cold storage every year (recent bar code identification cards are still in the pockets), so it was very well cared for and maintained over the years.  The lining is unstitched from the pelt above the interior pocket, but this is a minor thing - you can decide to either have it stitched or leave it as is. 

This is a superior quality vintage Christian Dior mink jacket - beautiful, supple pelts with excellent glaze and colour, what one would expect from a Christian Dior designed mink jacket of the period!
