This is a fabulous brown suede leather dress featuring a 1968 documented design by Pierre Cardin. I’ve provided a photo from 1968 that shows a similar Pierre Cardin dress in green, the main difference being the cap sleeves and rounded neck on the one in the photograph while this example is sleeveless and has a V shaped neckline. This example has no label, so it is difficult for me to ascribe it to Pierre Cardin with certainty as it could have been a copy, but it is of very nice quality - I do suspect that it is an original. The suede body is trimmed in a white leather while the design on the front is also made of white leather that is affixed to the suede with some type of adhesive. This Pierre Cardin design dress is cut with a slight A line, closes with a YKK brass zipper up the back and is unlined. It should be noted that many of the Paris fashion houses used YKK zippers from the 1930s and on.
Sizing: No size is indicated, and although this should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit (please measure your body or a similar garment that you might own for comparison):
Shoulders: 13 3/4” across
Bust: 36” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 34” around
Hips: 38”
Overall length: 34 1/2“, measured flat
Condition: This Pierre Cardin design dress is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odours. The interior bottom hem is undone from the seam in two places, but this doesn’t affect much.
Whether original Pierre Cardin or not, this is a fabulous mod 60s dress - nice quality leather, sure to be noticed!
