This is a quality vintage mens overcoat made in a black and white Connemara Irish tweed houndstooth checked pattern. The coat is made in a 1960s/70s “mod” style. It features wide notched lapels and has slightly padded shoulders. It has a three button closure and single button cuffs. There is a flapped patch pocket at either side. The coat is fully lined in a black rayon fabric. The back has a single 18” vent at the centre. The tweed is woven in a combination of black, grey and white threads.
Fabric label: Connemara Tweed Made in the Republic of Ireland. Connemara Tweed is produced by Millars Connemara Tweed Ltd., founded by Robert Millar in 1900. They are renowned the world over for their high quality tweeds.
Union label: Canadian ACWA used between 1962 and 1976
Material: 100% Wool
Sizing: The size label reads 44 Tall, but this may be snug if you wish to wear a sport coat underneath, and I’m not sure that it is really a tall, especially if you like your coats long. Please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the thickness of the fabric into account (measure either a similar coat that you own or compare to your body measurements):
Shoulders: 19” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeves: 25 1/2” from the shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeve Inseam: 15 1/2”
Chest: 47” around
Waist: 44” around
Hips: 48” around
Length: 44”, measured flat
Condition: It is in excellent condition with no wear, tear, stains or odors - very crisp, this looks to have seen little use. It should last for many years given the quality of the tweed.
This is a very “natty” looking overcoat....sure to be noticed!
