This is an Egyptian hand tailored vintage 1950s mens suit, consisting of a jacket, and pants.  This 1950s mens suit is made in a finely checked worsted wool in tones of black, silver grey and blue, giving an overall impression of toned charcoal grey.  The shoulders of the jacket are heavily padded and the lapels are notched.  The jacket has a “three roll two” button closure and three buttons at the end of each sleeve.  There is a flapped pocket at either side and a pocket at the left breast.  The jacket is fully lined in black satin fabric and the sleeves are lined in striped white fabric.  It has two interior pockets.  The pants are pleated, have turned cuff legs and have a button-up fly and waist cinching tabs at either side.  This 1950s mens suit is hand tailored - excellent quality.      

Age: early 1950s, perhaps late 40s

Material: Wool.  It is a quite heavyweight fabric, definitely a fall/winter suit.     Falls beautifully due to weight and quality.

Sizing: No size is indicated on this 1950s mens suit, as it was custom tailored, but this should fit a large size, probably a size 42.  Please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior:

Jacket:

Shoulders: 19” across shoulder seam-to-seam 

Sleeves: 24” from shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam: 17” long

Chest: 46” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 45” around

Overall length: 29 1/2“, measured flat

Pants:

Waist: 38”-39”, uncinched by a belt and with the tabs fully let out

Leg Inseam: 32 1/2” long

Overall length: 42 1/2“

Condition: This 1950s mens suit is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odour.  There is, however, discolouration to the lining of the sleeves as well as a bit of fraying/tearing to the sleeve lining at the armpit.  Otherwise, this 1950s mens suit looks like it was well kept over the years.
