We made our very first wood camera back in 2017, and the TLR Wood Camera followed one year later.
In 2019 our Master Wood Craftsman - 78-year old George - couldn't open his shop, so we had to pause for a year. Then 2020 came, and we finally found some time to work on something completely new.
This time, we wanted to step it up a level, and make something truly eye-grabbing, memorable, and above-all, beautiful.
We selected the legendary Polaroid SX-70 for two reasons: its unique status as the first truly "instant" camera, and it's iconic geometric design, brought about by its ability to fold flat and fit into a coat pocket.
The original Polaroid SX-70 was produced from 1972 to 1981, and it retains a strong cult following, with legions of refurbished original cameras actively used by instant photographers around the world.
The SX-70 is one of the most impressive cameras ever designed, and one of the most beautiful, and we felt it merited a fitting tribute.
The SX-70 Wood Camera Box
Only 10 of these hand-crafted Wood SX-70 Camera Boxes have been made.
Over 20 hours of work goes into making each one, with every single piece of wood cut, sanded, fitted, joined and finished by hand.
We sat down and carefully designed and prototyped multiple versions of this Wood Camera, before settling on the final design, which allows the storage of up to 40 Polaroid (or Fuji Instax Wide) photographs.
Handcrafted in Philadelphia, this decorative camera box is the ultimate gift for the passionate instant film photographer who thinks they've seen it all.
Each SX-70 Wood Camera is made of 4 different types of wood from around the world, that were specially selected for their superior beauty and grain, and distinct contrast to each other.
Each Camera comes with a unique edition number and storycard describing the types of wood used and how to properly care for this heirloom-quality gift.
A special, limited-edition gift item for the instant photography connoisseur.
