Imai Daruma Naya was founded 90 years ago in Toyooka Town, Takasaki City, Gumma Prefecture, which is the number one producer of Daruma dolls in Japan. Using old-fashioned handamade techniques and eco-friendly raw materials, they pass the Takasaki tradition Daruma to the present and pass it on to the future.

The six lines on the front of Daruma indicate that time passes from the past to the future. On each side of Daruma, the concept of “Seven Downs & Eight Ups” is written as a mathematical formula in Italian. “Cadere” means falling, and “rialzarsi” means getting up.

We all “fall” in life from time to time, but a falling is not a failure. When we fall, we can always get up again for another beginning. We wish that Designer’s Daruma is there to guide you in life. Since Designer's Daruma is handmade, your Designer's Daruma is the only one in the world.
