Created by Christopher Gadsden and first flown by Esek Hopkins on the USS ALlfred on Dec. 20, 1775, The Gadsden flag is a symbol of the truest and original values to America as a nation: independence and freedom from tyranny.

We are a people who will not give in to oppression. We will not allow others to abuse, mistreat, or exploit our hard work. Like a snake underfoot, we will strike if tread upon. The thirteen original colonies are represented by the thirteen Rattles.

The colors of the Gadsden Flag also symbolize different meanings. The color green represents growth and a new life while the color yellow represents liberty for America.
