At the height of the Space Race in the late 50s and early 60s, officials in Huntsville, Alabama proposed a project for a Disneyland-style theme park to be built. Construction began in 1964, but was quickly abandoned less than three years later once costs proved to be astronomical. Space City USA was sold off without ever opening it's doors to families across America.
