The National Professional Soccer League was a professional indoor soccer league that welcomed a Denver team for the 1992-1993 season. The team was the former Illinois Thunder, which relocated to Colorado to become the Denver Thunder. The NPSL pulled the Thunder out of the McNichols Arena, which held 15,000 fans, for the more cost-efficient Denver Coliseum. This move required the league to re-write the schedule midseason, and the Thunder would lose the final 32 games after the move after starting the season 3-5. Naturally, the team was quickly removed from the league following the conclusion of the season in 1993.
