I’m a huge fan of letting typography lead as the art itself. I wanted it to be minimal yet exciting, enough so that someone would want to frame it and hang it on their wall, but without being too safe. Minneapolis has gone through an overwhelming change this past summer following the death of George Floyd, Covid-19, and countless sexual assault allegations against many of our notable musicians in the twin cities. The music scene is really changing. I’m looking forward to seeing what the landscape will hold when we can come back to playing live shows. This is a piece that reflects that change and some of the good we have held onto - like Prince on rollerskates.

My name is Alexis Politz (she/her). I’m a queer illustrator and designer who has been working with bands, organizations, and small businesses for over six years in Minneapolis, MN. My goal is to visually represent other individuals and creatives alike through digital and traditional media. For someone who got their career started in DIY environments, I hope to continue to be an accessible resource for those beginning their passions as well as a professional asset for established companies. After graduating from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2017, I have formed a good ol’ belt of knowledge in print, graphic design, printmaking, and book arts. I am a current full-time designer at Copycats Media where I work on various products and packaging for the music industry and beyond. On the side, I help run a local record label called Brace Cove Records, play bass, love my cats, learn a lot, and indulge in lots of ice cream.
