This is a small antique English cut crystal glass bowl, perhaps meant for nuts or candy. The piece is made of clear, fairly thick, heavy crystal glass. It is cut in a crosshatch and square pattern with a 15 point star cut underside. It has a sterling silver rim that is stamped with G.E.W. for George Edwin Walton & Co, and hallmarked with the lion (sterling silver guarantee), the anchor (Birmingham assay office) and the date letter of e, which stands for the year 1904. The quality of the glass is excellent - lovely clarity. The bowl measures 3 3/4 in diameter across its top and 2 1/4 in height and is fairly heavy for its size, weighing 7 oz. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, scratching or wear - the silver needs a polish. This is a beautiful quality glass bowl..classy way to offer nuts or candy.
