This is a vintage blue faux fur coat made in France but imported into Canada and sold under the “Sirbain” brand name.  Sirbain was founded in 1948 by a French emigré to Canada, Jeanne Sirbain.  She was one of the first to feature faux fur as an alternative to real fur.  The business changed hands in 1972 and, in 1987, began to import acrylic based faux furs from Europe because of their superior quality to the product made by Serbain.  Serbain closed its doors in 1994.

This vintage blue faux fur coat is made in an oversized teddy bear style with full cut raglan sleeves, standing collar and made in a below-the-knee length.  It does up with three covered loops and buttons down the front.  There is a pocket built into either lower side.  The coat is lined in black acetate satin.
